NeWay — Privacy Policy

Last updated: 18 June 2026

NeWay is a macOS app that lets you talk to and direct AI assistants on your Mac. This policy explains what data the app handles, where it goes, and your choices. Plain language on purpose.

The short version

What the app handles, and where it goes

Background agents run on your Mac

When you give NeWay a task, the agent runs locally on your computer. It can read and modify files and control apps that you direct it to. Its reasoning is performed by Anthropic (text of the task and relevant context is sent there). Review what it does before relying on it.

Our key server

NeWay supplies the AI access for you, so you don't need your own API keys. To do that, requests pass through a key server we operate. It swaps in the real API credentials and forwards your request to OpenAI/Anthropic/Composio. It records counts (for abuse prevention and quotas) and standard operational logs (timestamps, your install ID, IP address, status codes). It is not designed to store the contents of your prompts, screenshots, or files.

Data stored locally on your Mac

Settings, a local log, and recent voice-interaction history are stored on your Mac (under ~/Library/…) and never leave it except as described above. Delete the app and its ~/Library/Application Support/NeWay and ~/Library/Neway folders to remove them.

Third-party processors

Your content is processed by these services under their own terms:

If you connect Gmail/Calendar, you authorize access through Google's standard OAuth screen; the connection is held by Composio and can be revoked any time in the app or in your Google account settings.

macOS permissions, and why

You can decline any of these in System Settings → Privacy & Security; the related features simply won't work.

Your choices and rights

Retention

Operational key-server logs are kept for 30 days then deleted. Local data lives on your Mac until you remove it. Third parties retain data per their own policies.

Security

Traffic to and through our key server uses TLS. We don't store your content. No method is 100% secure; use the app accordingly.

Children

NeWay is not directed to children under 16 and we don't knowingly collect their data.

Changes

We may update this policy; we'll change the date above and, for material changes, note it in the app or on our site.
